On Saturday 17th May, one of our dedicated yard supervisors Mark Goodship took part in an incredible 100km charity cycle ride around the New Forest.

The ride was organised by our long-standing customer DEKRA, who have hosted a charity cycling event for several years. Mark, who’s taken part in the ride for six years, first got involved through a friend who works at DEKRA, bonded by their shared love for cycling.

In previous years, the event raised funds for Naomi House & Jacksplace, but this year’s DEKRA 100K Challenge took on new significance. It was held in memory of DEKRA colleague James Rees, who sadly died by suicide, prompting the team to support the mental health charity CALM (Campaign Against Living Miserably) and raise awareness of the importance of mental health support.

Setting off from DEKRA’s site in Chilworth, the route took the team through a scenic but challenging loop around the New Forest. Mark clocked up an impressive 105.6km over four and a half hours, with the weather playing ball to make the day that bit more enjoyable. He was joined by five other cyclists, and an additional 20 participants completed a 10-mile walk in solidarity with the cause.

So far, Mark’s sponsored ride and the DEKRA team’s donations total £3,256 on the JustGiving page, with additional donations still coming in – an incredible show of support for such an important cause.

Thank you to everyone who has donated. The support has been great, and it’s made a real difference to a cause that matters to so many.
