At Storage on Site, we take pride in supporting our team both professionally and personally. This year, we’re backing one of our dedicated lorry drivers, Chris Foss, as he takes on the 2025 London Marathon to raise funds for Wessex Heartbeat. Chris’s journey from casual runner to marathon contender is a story of commitment, resilience, and a deep passion for helping others.

From Park Runs to the London Marathon

Chris’s love for running started in March 2024, when he decided to take part in his first 5K park run. “I wasn’t sure what to expect,” Chris recalls, “but after that first run, I was hooked.” Fast forward to today, and he has completed around 35 park runs, with an impressive personal best of 19 minutes and 41 seconds.

In October 2024, Chris took his running a step further by participating in the Race for Life in Southampton. That event led to an even bigger challenge: a half marathon. After successfully completing the race, Chris knew he had more to give.

Running a half marathon made me realise I could push myself even further. When the opportunity to run the London Marathon came up, I knew I had to take it—it's always been a dream of mine.

The Road to Marathon Day

Chris officially kicked off his marathon training on 1st January 2025, following a structured 16-week TR training programme. It’s been a tough journey, requiring both physical endurance and mental discipline.

I haven’t touched a drop of alcohol since I started training, which has been challenging—especially as I do enjoy a beer! But I know it will all be worth it on race day.

Balancing long work hours, family commitments, and training has been no easy feat, but Chris remains dedicated. Rain or shine, he laces up his running shoes, knowing that every step brings him closer to his goal.

Even social events have required extra discipline. “I was at a friend’s party recently and was the only one not drinking—it was tough! But I kept reminding myself of the bigger picture.”

Storage on Site Are Proud to Support Chris’s Journey

At Storage on Site, we’re proud to sponsor Chris’s marathon challenge and help him raise vital funds for Wessex Heartbeat. Supporting our employees in their personal goals is just as important to us as supporting them in their careers.

Chris’s dedication to this challenge reflects the same commitment and perseverance he brings to his role as a lorry driver. We couldn’t be prouder of his efforts, and we’ll be cheering him on every step of the way!

Going the Extra Mile

To enhance his training and recovery, Chris has even invested in a cold plunge therapy routine.

It really helps with muscle recovery. The cold water releases toxins and keeps my legs fresh for the next run.

This extra level of dedication proves just how committed Chris is to achieving his marathon goal.

Running for a Cause: Wessex Heartbeat

Chris is running the 2025 London Marathon in support of Wessex Heartbeat, a charity that provides vital care for patients with heart conditions at the Wessex Cardiac Centre in Southampton. Having a personal connection to this cause, Chris is determined to raise as much money as possible to support the centre’s life-saving work.

How You Can Help

Chris’s fundraising goal is within reach, but he needs your support! Every donation, no matter how big or small, will make a difference in helping Wessex Heartbeat continue their incredible work.
