The Challenge
Southampton City Farm is a small community charity providing a safe, hands-on farm experience for local families, schools, and vulnerable groups. As the number of young people visiting the farm increased, the team needed a quiet, self-contained learning space.
With limited internal space and budget restrictions, extending their existing building wasn’t possible. They needed a quick and cost-effective solution that could be installed in a tight and awkward spot on their landlocked site.

The Solution
Despite the tricky access, Storage on Site delivered a green 20ft cabin to Southampton City Farm.
Our team coordinated a specialist crane lift to carefully place the unit into position over a high boundary fence. Once in place, the classroom was quickly adapted for a range of activities including one-to-one tutoring, crafts, and even table tennis.
This project shows how versatile our cabins can be – providing high-quality, cost-effective solutions even in challenging locations.

”As a small charity, our budgets are always very limited. We’ve seen an increase in the number of young people visiting the farm and needed a safe, dedicated space for learning. Because of financial constraints, we weren’t able to extend our building as much as we wanted, so we needed a quick and affordable solution.
We reached out to Storage on Site, who were incredibly helpful. They found us a unit that could fit into a really awkward space. Our site is completely landlocked, with the only access through a car park behind us, but their team managed to lift it over the fence and drop it into place!
Having the new classroom has made a big difference. It’s allowed us to take more bookings and provide a quiet, safe learning space, especially for one of the young lads who comes regularly who needs somewhere away from the big school groups.
The container itself is in fantastic condition and really easy to adapt to whatever we need. At the moment, we’re using it for classroom sessions including maths and English tutoring, as well as crafts and even table tennis.
